In order to more easily match proof to 4 color press I would like to add the
following color bar. It would greatly help if this could be put on in place or in addition to the Corel color bar as the image setter is capable of creating standard color bars anyway. >Its made of a 1/4 inch bar of 50% black across the page and >right below make a bar of Grey with 50% cyan 39% mag and 39% yellow. >Run on tail of sheet and on proof. >Proof bars must both look the same Gray or proof is off, then on press run to match the 2. Adding the above 2 bars is a hassle if one wants to use the good imposition features of Corel so if they could be added in place or as part of Corel color bars this would be excellent. >This assumes your proof is in calibration and your plates are also. Do this >and your press sheet will match your proof every time. You can see in a >instant if your press operator is off. I am told the file the bars & marks are in is the marks.ps file RIPs normally can provide a basic color bar so Corels is not needed ours supplies a CMYK version of 100% and 50% accross the sheet for instance, but not the Gray bars mentioned. I am uploading a sample of how I would like the color bar to appear in Corel - for that matter any program.
The bottom bar is 50percent Gray and the other one consisting of the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow are to print gray when the press and proof are in balance so one can visually see if proof is correct, also if press is correct while running. Use a density reading on solid color bar at top to ensure the press is at correct density and if that area of the gray bars at bottom of sheet is Gray and rest looks the same press should be printing correctly. An item on our Press RIP that is useful is center marks - quicker to mask quickly using centerline on masking sheets, than using corner marks alone. Also could be handy when proofing layouts on oversize sheets for folds, center location etc. I took the liberty of adding them to this sample where they would improve the proof. If nothing else I hope this gives a Corel programmer an idea. If someone can modify marks.ps to include the gray bars I have $40.00 ready to mail you. If I get to resell the code I'll send a 100.00 Canadian. I have also asked for this type of addition from my RIP manufacturer www.ripit.com . If by chance they should oblige this offer will be null and void. I don't expect that to happen this year however. Ken Graham CommunityPrinters.com 250-782-7108 Dawson Creek BC Canada V1G 2G5 |
