Hi,
The following macro creates a basic scheme for the preparation of book cover design. Converts the number of pages in a book inscribed to the thickness of the ridge. The ridge calculated based on a paper book with grammage 80 g/m². Format obverse cover: 170 x 240 mm. Scheme allows the possibility of preparing soft or hard cover. Schematic soft cover plus 3 mm bleed. Diagram of the hard cover plus bleed 15 mm and the ridge of + 5 mm. Macro code is available, so you can make any changes. This is a great macro. Many thanks for posting it.
Would it be possible to modify it for use on existing pages? I typically have covers for publications which have three pages, front cover, back cover and spine. I want to keep these pages separate, because we make PDFs for the Web out of them. But for printing they have to be imposed – a job currently done by our printing department, which takes my 3-page PDF and assembles it onto a single sheet using InDesign. I’d really love to be able to give them print-ready PDFs. An alternative would be to be able to design into the cover-spread template that the macro produces, and then make a separate file of front cover + back cover for the Web. |

Although my 60 years and made a variety of graphic design, ever since accession to complete the project, repel me initial preparations, in case of book covers: the conversion of the back, front and rear workpieces with a supply of cut after printing, etc. A year ago, "I discovered this forum and thanks to him I got to know a little VBA and its amazing possibilities that can make for me a lot of stupid tasks. In spare time, I'm using the materials and suggestions (special thanks to Senior Member Runflacruiser) provided by the forum users. I made a few macros that I enjoy using them (without having to take this step by step and without calculator in hands). Several of them I posted on forum.
My experience in VBA is still small and ability to use English does not allow me to fully understand and implementation of this request. Sorry and best regards. Andrzej Jesionowski |

Andrzej – Your English is a lot better than my Polish! And your knowledge of VBA, although you describe it as small, far surpasses mine. Thanks anyway for the macro.
