There is a lot of samples and documentation in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\PhotoshopCS\Scripting Guide\..." I think the same concerns CS2.

Here is a sample of saving to tiff. You need to add a Reference to Photohop to execute it.
Sub tst_tiffsave()
  Dim PShop As New Photoshop.Application
  Dim doc As Photoshop.Document
  Set PShop = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
  Set doc = PShop.Open("C:\Temp\temp.psd") 'Photoshop open file temp.psd
  ' now save as tif with extra options.
  Dim psSaveOptions As Photoshop.TiffSaveOptions
  Set psSaveOptions = New Photoshop.TiffSaveOptions
  psSaveOptions.AlphaChannels = True
  psSaveOptions.Layers = True
  psSaveOptions.SpotColors = True
  doc.SaveAs "C:\Temp\temp.tif", psSaveOptions, False, extType
End Sub
