Default CPP12, background question

Howdy folks, it's been some time since I posted my last question. I did purchase CDGS12, and have used it a bit.
Here's my question, is there a way to remove the background from a finished image so that it doesn't show?

Example; An asymetrical image placed on a background that's set for no background. The BG is set to a minimum so as not to waste space, but much of the area of the BG isn't used and appears white even though it is set to "no background".
I've seen images on the net like avatars and banners where objects have no BGs to the sides top or bottom only the intended image is visible. It's like the BG has been cropped out.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

which format GIF or CPT the format depends on the final use of the image.

I'm talking about creating a .JPeg for eventual use on the net. I know how to clip individual images out of existing pictures and place them in a composite setting. However, the background is always there, regardless of whether I pick with a color or not. The image below has a square BG, when created, I chose no BG and what you see is the result
I would like to keep the face minus the BG

Example;

Here is an example of what I think I'm asking about it appears that the BG is missing between the items rising above the red rectangle. I know the text is between them however, to the sides it is also missing. The site I found this on alternates it's BG color, so I don't think its a matching color.

Example

As for all the images Caminante put up in the post, sorry, I don't understand it. I see the images, but I don't grasp the gist of where its going and if it solves my problem
