Default X5 Docker Tooltips?

I'm making a "quick access" docker that will be a narrow strip containing various icons. I'm using the mthod based on an html page to create the docker. I'd like to set some kind of tootips for my buttons. I tried using css display to hide and show a div containing some text (a pseudo tooltip).The problem is when the div appears it is lost behind the docker below my "quick access" docker. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to show a tooltip type messages when rolling over buttons?

Thanks

Chris

Hi.
I'm not a docker expert but hope this might help.
In html, used for dockers, try using the title tag. This would make a tooltip appear

Code:
<input type="submit" value="Click to Submit" title="tool tip" />
As for css you can create a simple css menu using unordered list items:

CSS
Code:
.navcontainer {
	width: 128px;
	color: #000000;
	background-image: url(../images/background.jpg);
	background-repeat: repeat-y;
}
.navcontainer ul {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #000000;
	margin-left: 0px;
	padding-left: 0px;
	list-style-type: none;
}
.navcontainer a {
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	color: #000000;
	text-decoration: none;
	display: block;
	padding: 4px;
	width: 120px;
	border-bottom-width: 1px;
	border-bottom-style: solid;
	border-bottom-color: #CCCCCC;
}
.navcontainer a:visited {
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #000000;
	text-decoration: none;
}
.navcontainer a:active {
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #FF6600;
	text-decoration: none;
	background-color: #FF6600;
}
.navcontainer a:hover {
	font-size: 12px;
	color: #FFFFFF;
	text-decoration: none;
	background-color: #FF6600;
}

.active1 {
	background-color: #FF6600;
	color: #999999;
}
Then create your menu and use the title tag for each list item:
Code:
<div class="navcontainer">
        <ul>
	     <li><a href="mylink.php" title="my tool tip">click here for this...</a></li>
       </ul>
</div>

As for your ms forms, in the vba editor all buttons, labels, etc also have a "controlTipText" option, which will give you a tool tip as well.

Hope this helps.
-John

Default title and alt

Agreed for a button title is the the way to go and for images (98% I use for buttons) you can use the alt tag. Here are a couple examples:

HTML Code:
<input type="button" id="cmdAllPages" value="All Pages" onClick="AllPages()" title="Add to all Pages" />
HTML Code:
<img src="img/save.gif" alt="Save" onclick="SaveFill()" />

Thanks to you both. I originally tried the title tag but it stopped working while I was testing it. I'd forgotten about the alt tag. The title tag seems OK now. Not sure why it stopped working. The unordered list menu is nice. I use one for my website.

Default Dockers

Just another tip when it comes to dockers. You might try looking into JQuery.

The next docker I will be releasing is almost all done in jQuery. It makes some very complex tasks almost simple. In fact the slider you see in the screenshot I posted is all jQuery. Check it out here: jQuery

Very cool Shelby.
I'm not too good at javascript..yet(lol)
I've always kinda swayed away from in due to browser compatibility, but you sure can do some amazing things with it.

How well do you need to know javascript before using jQuery?

I wouldn't say I know JavaScript well at all, more structure than anything. I have been using jQuery for a week now and find it much easier to get done what I need to. It is working well for my needs. You do bring up a good point, wonder if my docker breaks if I turn off javascript. Guess I need to look into this.
