Hi, just wondering if anyone has experienced an inability to specify the desired distance for placing duplicate objects in Corel Draw 10?
In my copy, the adjusters for X and Y offset always resets to 0.25 inches (the default I believe) when I put my cursor back into the work space and select an object. I have thoroughly searched through the various menu and preference settings to see if there is some kind of default lock that I can turn off but have found nothing. I called a friend who uses Corel 10 as well and he tried adjusting the X / Y offset commands with out any difficulty. I'm beginning to wonder if my program is buggy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Fish |

Make sure you use the same decimal delimiter character as set in your Regional settings in Windows. For example, if you want to specify 1.5" offset and your current system locale is set to, say, French or German, you will need to enter the value as "1,5" - that is use a comma instead of the dot. This could be your problem.

After five years and seven versions of Corel, the solution is...to ignore Corel's auto spacing for duplication. Seriously - it's just easier to do it by hand, or by placing the duplicated object at a specific x/y coordinate.
If you want to duplicate more than one object in consistent increments, duplicate the first one, place it where you want it in relation to the original, then without selecting anything else, reduplicate the object. Corel should place it in the same relative position as the first duplicate, and so on. As long as you don't select another object in between steps, Corel will continue to space the duplicates out evenly. Beyond that, honestly, I have never found the actual numerical value of the offset duplication to be of any use whatsoever. |

On my version of Corel 10, the duplicate offset dialogue windows for X and Y appear in the staus bar, slightly right of center.
They appear when the document is opened. They're supposed to appear when the Pick Tool is chosen, but for me they don't - they appear when the Pick Tool is chosen AND no object is selected. |
