I've found in CorelDraw X5 that shapes that are on a layer but outside the page bounds are automatically moved to the Desktop layer.
Can anyone confirm this, and tell me how to turn it off? I've been over the options and customization settings but can't find it. |

Hi.
When does this happen. Upon opening a file, importing? -John |

It has worked this way as long as I can remember, I just tested 12 - X5 and they all do this.
If you don't want the shapes to move to the Desktop Layer, turn off the page border then create a new page. -Shelby |

Thank you for your responses. I turned off page border using the:
Options > Document > Page Size > Show Page Border checkbox option. I've never used CorelDraw with this setting, but it has created additional headaches for my user base so I will have to write something to detect when this occurs and notify the user. Thank you for your help, and if there are any additional solutions out there I'm always listening. |

Hi.
I have never used the page border. I assigned a shortcut key to "show printable area" which I can toggle on or off anytime as needed. Maybe this would be an option for you as well? -John |
