Default fading box from color to transparent

Hi there

I am trying to do the following...fade white (or any solid colour) into transparent and lay it over a photograph. i want it to look something like this....but not with as hard a line/seperatation between the white and the photo. see my attached example. basically want to do this but fade it more smoothly/gradually. I dont know what tool or where to start. I tried the fountain/gradient color fill in corel draw but you cannot select transparent as one of the colours in the fountain/gradient fill!

thanks

Default Interactive Transparency

You are looking for the Interactive Transparency tool. It is with all the other Interactive tools on the toolbox. You can apply directly to the bitmap or draw a rectangle over it and apply it to the rectangle. How ever works best for you.

Good luck,

Shelby

And if i wanted to fade all 4 side of the square? ie. have a white squate and put it in the middle of the photo for instance...and it would look like a faded square with the deppest white starting from the centre fading to transparent towards the edges

Default Square

Change to a Square instead of Linear.

Default Vignette

Or since it is a bitmap for a better look I would do: Bitmaps| Creative| Vignette And select the rectangle shape.

Best of luck,

Shelby

Hey Shelby,

Im working on my website site again, its been a while!

Im using the Interactive Transparency tool, where do I select linear or square?
Also, how do I make the entire image semi transparent. ie, even transparency though out the image. I tried doing a simple fill and selecting transparency as the colour, but there aint no transparency as a set colour in the palette!?

Thanks
