Icon set by SetCustomIcon display black background?

I'm learning to write CorelDraw dll plugins.

It's weired after i used SetCustomIcon("..\some.ico") to set the command button's icon, the icon displayed black background...

Why? Help!

I've checked the ico file in many icon tools...

Yes, it can accept a .bmp file, but i don't know how to set the transparent color in bmp?

BMP does not support transparent background itself.
So, does CorelDraw use a specific color as transparent?

I'm also, not familiar with this bit of code, but if it accepts a BMP, can it also accept a PNG?

I've tried it.

CorelDraw will not show the PNG file on a toolbar as one Icon.

Instead, it shows a coffee icon...

Hi,

It won't honor transparency. Just make the background the same as the color of the CorelDRAW toolbar. That is what I do.

This is what I was thinking when I suggested a bmp file because I use bmp's for my CorelDraw macro icons.

That sounds a good idea except for CorelDraw may show different toolbar background colors under different Windows versions...

Hi,

Unless one of the Corel guys wants to tell us how to get an icon with a transparent background to work then that is the only option I am aware of.

I did NOT spend a great deal of time struggling with this though. Too much else on my plate...

Hi.
There might be some work around ideas. Like buttons on top of a frame, the size the of the form, and set the frame to a color you choose.
