I have to do a lot of clean up on vectored images for screen printing. I would like to create some vba code that would delete all nodes in a selected area. The area may have a lot of objects. I need some help, please.
Thanks, Judy |

describe it in more details - why not use Del key? :-)

I received a bitmap with text. I vectored the image, and, as often happens, the text didn't vector well. So, I want to delete the text (which is now a curve rather than true text); so, I can retype it. The messed up text has more nodes that I have ever seen. I can't just select that area and delete it because CorelDRAW now considers this artwork to be a single curve. I can use the shape tool, of course, and select nodes or even blocks of nodes and press the delete key, but it takes forever since there are so many nodes. I just thought there might be a quicker clean up method through VBA. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks, Judy |

I usually use 'weld' in such cases. Or remove the text before tracing. Imho such a task is not easily done in vba, I can't even imagine how to do it fast using ordinary tools. VBA automates but does not create miracles

Have you tried auto-reduce nodes? I assume that you are using the autotracing program that comes with Corel. I was a screenprinter for 20 years and I can tell you that most times it's better to trace the image by hand with the bezier tool. You waste less time than cleaning an autotrace result. There's also some tweaking that can be done to the original in photoshop like increasing the resolution and using noise reduction filter and indexing but most of the times, in my experience, it's better to trace by hand

Ok - thanks for checking it out.

Manuel,
Yes, I am using the automated trace tools in CorelDRAW. I am struggling to learn control of the Bezier tool - it isn't intuitive to me at all. I have been told to just keep practising; so, that's what I am doing. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Judy |

Your default node when you click and drag is a symetrical node.
Hold the C key while dragging to place a cusp node, hold the S key to place a smooth node. Press space bar twice to end an open curve and start the other. Hold ALT while dragging to reposition the node. |
