Default FitTextToFrame question

Is it possible to "FitTextToFrame" or something like it to a curve, so that once the text is inside the shape, it will format itself to fit (size/kerning/line spacing)? My problem has been that "FitTextToFrame" works on a paragraph text box only but not on anything else. Anyone been there?

Thanks
Steve

Actually, it does'nt apply, but thanks for the help! TextOnPath in the help files gave me this...

Quote:
Description
The TextOnPath property returns the EffectTextOnPath object for fitting text to a path.

Read-Only

Example
The following example sets the distance between the text and its path to 1" for each object with text fit to a path on the active page.

Code:
Sub Test()
	Dim s As Shape
	Dim e As Effect
	For Each s In ActivePage.FindShapes(Type:=cdrTextShape)
		For Each e In s.Effects
			If e.Type = cdrTextOnPath Then e.TextOnPath.DistanceFromPath = 1
		Next e
	Next s
End Sub
I hope that helps on your end..

Thanks again

No but it's the example used in the help file for one of the ones you showed me.

I'm having a hard time getting VBA to select the paragraph text inside of a shape. I think if I can do that, the FitTextToFrame will work. The menu command works ok.

Thanks for your help

i think i know what you are trying to do. kind of like quark when you adjust the shape of the text frame and the text reflows to fit the contour of the shape? "fit text to frame" only adjusts the width of the text to match the text frame width. it really has nothing to do with a curve shape, only the paragraph text frame.

i'm not sure corel can even do that, as i can find anything in the menus that leads me to believe it can. but then, i'm no corel buff, don't even really like the program. i only use it because i can get to it with visual basic and create graphics.

haha

Mac Bigot? Joking... Actually Text/Fit Text to Frame adjusts all the parameters I mentioned.

I do graphics for the screen printing industry. Corel (Draw) is a real popular program in this industry. Of course Photoshop is popular too but Corel is definatly the vector program of choice.

There is a Text.FitTextToFrame method. If I could only automate it..

Thanks again for your help

Default Got it

Code:
ActivePage.FindShape("TextFill1").CreateSelection
    Set S1 = ActiveShape
    Set s = d.ActiveLayer.CreateParagraphText(2, 2, 5, 5, "Your Text", _
        , , "Your Font", 7, , , , )

S1.PlaceTextInside(s).CreateSelection

ActiveShape.Text.FitTextToFrame
Thanks for your help. It led to other ideas that got it working.
