Default X5 and RecentFiles macro

I trialled X5 and it stopped Recentfiles working with CD12. I got error messages about not having a license to use some ActiveX control? I'm guessing that the updates to Microsoft programs prior to installing X5 have made Recentfiles unusable. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution. I don't want to upgrade at the cost of giving up on using RecentFiles. The X5 included Corel Connect pales in comparison.

Thanks,

Chris

ps.

Try switching your default file type for .cdr files back to corel12.
That's the only thing I think it could have changed that would affect draw12 after installing x5.

Thanks for the idea John. I went back in time so I can't make the test you suggest but I think it wouldn't solve the problem. Recentfiles wouldn't work in X5 either. If anyone knows how to get Recentfiles working with X5 I'd like to know.

Cheers,

Chris

I have X5 and RecentFiles works for me. CDRInfo is broken even after you run the patch that Os supplies. I copied my RecentFiles installation GMS from X4 to X5 folder. Rather than installing it from scratch. Not sure about the v12 issue since most of my files are X3 and above. I have opened a file that was v11 with no problems from RecentFiles.

Hi,

That was the first thing I tried. I was getting an error message every time RecentFiles interacted with Draw - basically unusable. I reinstalled everything from scratch and tried the installation method - twice using different versions of RecentFiles -basically the same problem. I got some improvement when I started playing around with the references as described by John. Managed to avoid crash on start up but still got an error every time I tried to get RecentFiles to do anything. I guess I need a specific X5 version to try or some very specific instructions about which references to check and uncheck.

Cheers,

Chris

Yeah, Recent Files works fine for me, the only problem I have is the preview is teeny-tiny, I hope that can be fixed in an update.

The small preview may have to do with the version it is saved in. Try saving in different versions and lastly changing the default program for you cdr file type and see if it helps.

I hear alot of good thing about recent files. (I've been a thumbsplus user for a long time) I've seen the small tiny thumbnails appear occasionally with thumbplus and it was related to this.

I went to download it and my virus protection said it was a virus. I'll have to give it a try one of these days when I got some time.

So you didn't do anything special to get it working?

Thanks,

Chris

I found this in another group. I don't use recentfiles, so not sure.

Recentfiles is working for me with X5/Windows 7 64bit
I am using the last recentfiles beta dec12, I've got only a problem with the big thumbnails in the left panel that was redraw as magnify glass and not the real thumb.

But I partially solved by putting this file recentFiles.IconCache in READONLY, the only problem is that every time you enter in recentfiles all the thumbs are created again and it is not using the cache, but with a fast pc it just 1 or 2 second.
