Post Joining nodes is troubling

Hi . You guys have helped me a lot by answering my previous questions. Now here is another simple one. I tried a lot but could not find a solution
I have two lines. Now what i want to do is
1. Join the two end points by overlapping so that the two lines become a single entity

2. Draw a line or curve between two endpoints. Again I want a single entity.

3. Do the same things with open curves.
Thanks

Select both lines/curves. Press Ctrl-L to combine both objects into one curve. Then select Node Edit tool (F10), select the two nodes you want to join and either click "Join" or "Extend To Close" buttons on the property bar.

You may also want to try using Arrange>Close Path>... menu items on original two objects to see if any of them give you good results.
